Get rid of porn

Because of the addictive nature of this sin, conquering it takes an intense spiritual, emotional, and physical struggle. It’s important to accurately portray the fierceness of that struggle, so that you don’t underestimate it. But we also try to show that despite all the power that Satan has going for him, Christ is infinitely stronger.

Getting out of the cycle of sin

For those caught in the cycle, usually the most effective remedy is to “work backwards” to get out of the cycle as explained on our Intervention page.

Get rid of lust list

While it is impossible to remove every “trigger” that stimulates lustful thoughts, we can minimize those triggers to help us conquer porn with Christ’s help. Much like the alcoholic who pours out his bottles and refuses to go to bars, these ideas will make it more difficult to say “yes” to porn until you have the strength to say “no”.

While these steps will not forgive your sin or save you spiritually (those are gifts of God’s grace!), they will serve as useful tools to enable you to live a pure life for the glory of God. As St. Paul encourages, “Flee from sexual immorality,” (1 Cor. 6:18).

Consider taking some or all of the following steps, remembering that a radical change of habits (porn use) rarely happens without a radical change of habits (triggers to porn use).

In their own words…

The fight is a tough one. We don’t want to understate the difficulty, but neither do we want to underestimate the Holy Spirit’s power to help you or the person you are trying to help. To give you hope that becoming a conqueror is possible, we include these stories of others who have fought the fight. Hear the highs and lows of fighting this sin in the words of people like you. The stories are real. The names have been changed to protect privacy.

Step 2: Get Back To God’s Grace

This is the most important step and the one that is most often overlooked. Watch Pastor Mike Novotny's video to hear that your heavenly Father loves you desperately and has sent his Son to show it. Step 4: Get Accountable To Others

Both research and the experience of millions of people fighting various addictions show that personal accountability is a make or break factor. With it, victory is much more likely. Without it, victory is practically impossible.

Get Ready for Battle

Step 5: Get Ready For Battle

Having a battle plan is also crucial for victory. You need to know what to expect, what kind of counterattacks Satan will throw at you. You also will need plans for how you will respond, and who will be making sure you follow through on your plan.
